About Mari Savickis:

Mari, a long-time advocate for smart technology utilization, champions policies to enhance the clinical experience for both providers and patients. Currently serving as the Vice President of Public Policy at the College of Healthcare Information Management Executives (CHIME), she is the voice in Washington, DC, for chief information officers (CIOs), chief information security officers (CISOs), and other c-suite executives involved in the secure deployment of healthcare technology.

In her role, Mari oversees all advocacy and interaction with federal agencies, the White House, and Congress on behalf of CHIME. Her responsibilities encompass a broad spectrum of health IT and digital health policy priorities, including interoperability, cybersecurity, artificial intelligence, privacy, patient safety, telehealth, connected care, and next-generation technologies. Mari is adept at leading coalitions and thrives on collaborating with various stakeholders.

Mari's policy expertise extends to multiple federal laws, such as the 21st Century Cures Act, the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA), the Health Information Technology for Economic and Clinical Health (HITECH) Act, the Medicare Access and CHIP Reauthorization Act (MACRA), and the Substance Use Disorder Prevention that Promotes Opioid Recovery and Treatment (SUPPORT) Act. She also serves as a Medicare subject matter expert.

Before joining CHIME in 2015, Mari held the position of Assistant Director of Federal Affairs at the American Medical Association (AMA) for nearly a decade, leading their health IT and HIPAA advocacy. Her previous roles include service in the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) and the Office of the National Coordinator for Health IT (ONC). Mari's entry into the federal government began with her selection for the highly competitive Presidential Management Fellows (PMF) program.

Mari holds a Master’s in Public Administration from the University of Delaware and dual bachelor’s degrees in political science and Spanish from Ohio Wesleyan University. Outside of her professional life, she is a certified yoga instructor and the founder of Blue Truck Wellness. Mari is married to a combat veteran and is a mother to twins.
